Port City’s Corneal Donation Program

Many of us have experienced the heartache of losing a beloved pet and understand the grief can sometimes be overwhelming if we cannot find meaning in the loss. As in human medicine, if we can help another through organ donation, this act can help you get through the sometimes unbearable sadness you are feeling and may help bring about healing.

Here at Port City, we can bank corneal donations to later transplant and save another pet’s eye. Our Ophthalmology doctors determine the patients that need transplants during consults.

Information is available to families at the time of their goodbyes about donating. If they wish to donate, the corneas are saved until needed.

Diagnostics

  • Electroretinography

  • Ocular Ultrasound
